I was reading Andrew's review of "Horror Planet" and it did clear up a few things for me.
For the longest time I thought that "Galaxy of Terror" and "Horror Planet" were the same film...just with alternate titles.
Keep in mind that I've never seen either film.

I now realize that they are actually two completely different films made in 1981.

I learned that "Horor Planet" does indeed have an alternate title as "Inseminoid". (of which I heard was much better as it was uncut)

"Galaxy of Terror" has Robert Englund in it.

I always thought they were the same because both had a scene where a woman is raped by a large wormlike alien.

Which film do you think is better?

Andrew

I like "Galaxy of Terror" more myself.  The story had more to it.  Plus, there were a couple of cool monsters and the big guy with his crystal throwing stars was fun.  For those with a more perverse enjoyment, the big-breasted blonde gets all her clothes sucked off by a giant worm (supposedly a maggot).

"Galaxy of Terror" is a skewed reworking of "Forbidden Planet."

Hate "Galaxy of terror". Don't ask me why, I just do. I hated "Creature" as well, so it may just be that "Alien" knock-offs are not my cup of tea. I can think of a funny bit, though, the astronaut from the first expedition we see getting killed on the prologue is H.M. Murdock from "The A-Team" TV series. Oh, and heard James Cameron was part of the crew.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Galaxy of Terror seems to have the big cult following, due to the maggot scene, also Erin Moran getting her head crushed.  The ending with Ray Walston is just plain nuts too.

I don't remember HORROR PLANET very well.  I think I might have rented it once thinking it was GALAXY OF TERROR.

I vote for Galaxy of Terror also. I didn't care for Horror Planet that much, even the uncut version.

Caught 'Inseminoid'/'Horror Planet' on BBC (its network premiere believe it or not)  last night (01-10-04). Well I've seen worse but Beeb seem to have got a cut version - I only know this as the rescue mission cast (all 3 of them) are credited but failed to appear. Complete version available anywhere people?

Also the birth scene - first she has her trousers on then off for the birth and then on again for the climax. Credibilty gap methinks.
