I caught "Frankenstein's Army" on Amazon Prime. It's a surprisingly effective "found footage" horror movie.

I really liked some of the monster designs, but overall the rest was okay at best.

Yeah, there isn't much of a story to speak of. Some Russian soldiers find a Nazi scientist's secret lab and then monsters attack. That's about it.

Of course, that trivializes the most important part of the movie: monsters attack!

I mean, take a look at this guy:

The whole movie's just like that: lunatic steampunk Nazi castoffs from Wolfenstein. I recommend it for that alone.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

The monster designs were PERFECT.  I loved them all, but that's really all the movie had going for it.

I don't get why it was a found footage movie either.  I'd think a movie with regular shots and camera work would have helped move things along so much better.

I like found footage movies but I agree with you on this count.  I loved the movie, but it would have worked better in a different narrative format. Still, the monsters were pretty rockin' awesome.

That was obviously taken from the film's "prop" department
