especially 70s/early 80s ones

Ive just bought CATHY'S CURSE (1977) based off some of the imdb reviews. hoping for a potential bm classic!

I quite liked fulci's MANHATTAN BABY (1982) which seemed to pilfer from both excorcist and omen, with his own weird twist

I also saw the joan collins abomination I DON'T WANT TO BE BORN (1975) which was truly awful, and not really in a good way imo. more tedious than fun

any opinions on the above 3? or any others of note in this rip off genre? good bad or indifferent will do...

(I should point out that Im a massive fan of The Omen, but strangely dont get The Excorcist hype at all.)

You should love CATHY'S CURSE. Of course, "bm" means something other than "bad movie" for that flick.

Another pretender to the throne would be DEMON WITCH CHILD. The possessed moppet in this film provided the dubbed voice for Linda Blair's character in the Spanish release of THE EXORCIST, so she was the right choice for this rip off. Beware the plushie attack scene; you may die laughing.
I feel more like I do now than I did a while ago.

This is the BEST Exorcist rip off.  NSFW and very un-PC.

yeah watched it last night. some classic moments of bad oldskool horror. especially liked the english psychic medium lady

weird how the whole film seems to be filmed in red + black, which I assumed was just cheap old film, but in one scene her eyes turn bright green

never heard of Demon Witch Child. making a mental note to check it...

Frankly, I kinda took CATHY'S CURSE to be a story about a young girl starting menstruation. Mood swings, sudden and weird sexual overtones, and more than a bit of mean-spirited evil. Eh, I'm giving it too much credit, I think.

I'll never forget the line "She's seen me! Kill her!".   :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

nice theory, but yeah probably going deeper into it than the makers did.

Im thinking THE VISITOR (1978) might kinda fit into this as well. crazy film anyway, only saw it recently.

ABBY (1974)
I bought this on VHS from Video Vortex in 1995-a bootleg thats about as washed out as the trailer I'm gonna post.
Kinda adds to the sleazy factor. Some very imagintive profanity that they couldn't put in the trailer!
I loved it.
Oh-CATHY'S CURSE-loved it.
