Racist Cotton Decor?

Long story short: Woman sees cotton stocks on sale at Hobby Lobby. Woman takes picture, posts pics on Fcaebook. She said  "This decor is WRONG on SO many levels. There is nothing decorative about raw cotton... A commodity which was gained at the expense of African-American slaves. A little sensitivity goes a long way. PLEASE REMOVE THIS 'décor.'"

Most people disagree, but disagreeing with someone still causes their post to go viral! And somehow viral posts are newsworthy! Congrads on making Yahoo's 1st page!

My grandmother on my father's side couldn't stand to look at cotton, because she grew up having to pick it...
She was white, and a racist, and she ate her pizza with a knife & fork...

IKR? She was never rich, not from any big city, and was no yankee. She was alway just fastidious like that.
I dunno... Maybe it's hard to eat finger foods with your fingers all cut up from cotton barbs...

Someone who has trouble chewing might; they could cut it up into small, easy to swallow pieces. It might also be cleaner. Or they might find eating with their fingers gross. Not saying LilCerberus' grand mother did so for these reasons; just trying to answer the question, which was phrased generally.

On a related note, I saw a video of a black teacher saying (in all apparent sincerness) that white marble was racist.

On second though, you could make a case for something like this being a bit insensitive...
