Lucio Fulci's The Beyond: any advance warnings and what should I be careful of?

We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

This movie has lots of fans. I'm afraid I'm not one.

Look out for handpainted signs and the world's loudest spiders.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Dr Menard warned me about the spiders when I wrote my review of City Of The Living Dead.  :teddyr:

I watched it a couple of years ago at a special screening at the theater. It is a crowd pleaser, people were screaming, howling and laughing. Lots of fun.

Watch out for boredom.  Loads and loads and loads of boredom.  At least that was my reaction to this movie.
Kneel before Dr. Hell, the ruler of this world!

Well, let me paraphrase a quote from Roger Ebert...

"And the plot of this movie (and here I pause to laugh hysterically as I mention the words "plot" and "this movie" in the same sentence)..."

So I just paid about $16 at www.loot.co.za to be bored? I could have bought a mirror and stared at my reflection if I wanted to be bored.

I normally apply that treatment to almost every movie I see.

Just don't expect sense or logic at any point. It is a meditation on gruesomeness. Just let it flow. Giggling is fine.

Personally, the highlight was the blind lady. She was both spooky and kinda hot at the same time.
I feel more like I do now than I did a while ago.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought so.

When you know the people who made films such as Space Mutiny, Nukie and The Demon personally - as I do - then you'll see why.
