You know this is likely Stevie's most underrated and overlooked film but honestly I don't think it was too bad.

For one thing it managed not to have a helpless bound woman facing a fiery death.  One of Stevie's more tiresome memes.

The remark that the house was being sold at a suspiciously low cost because the owner needed money for legal fees since he was on trial for wasr crimes.  He was hitler's pool man.

A lot of people have been screwed on house deals and as such can understand the plight of Tom Hanks' character.

Anyone else think 'the money pit' didn't reek?
The doctor that circumcised Trump threw away the wrong piece.

I enjoyed it as a light comedy. I remember a few others from that time that I liked (Ruthless People was another) .Not seen it since I first watched it back then but it is one I would not mind seeing again.
Hail to thyself
For I am my own master
I am my own god
I require no shepherd
For I am no sheep.

The Burgomaster

I don't think it was a terrible movie. But I always compare it to MR. BLANDINGS BUILDS HIS DREAM HOUSE, which is much funnier and far superior.
"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Pacman000

I thought it was a remake of Mr. Blandings.

I enjoyed it.

It is, but I'm not sure the producers gave it much credit for being a remake. THE MONEY PIT is a wackier, slapstick version. BLANDINGS relies a lot more on funny dialogue and characters.
