Reading anything?

Oh wow, I'd picked up a bunch of her books meaning to read them some day, although I haven't gotten around to it yet.

If this is true I really wish I hadn't bothered.

Can't quite seem to bring myself to burn these books. Just feels wrong after it being something I'#ve been against all my life. Will figure out some way of getting rid of them though. I am glad I got them second hand though so at least the author won't get any money from me.

I settled for just throwing them in the bin earlier. Seven of her books. Hopefully they will be recycled into something better in their next life.

And seriously, Mockingbirds are great on toast.

alex, you know i think you're pretty cool. but i WILL HURT you if i ever find out you burned ANY book, i swear it. and my momma will haunt you!! recycling them, okay..no, it's not, really. get them out and give em to an op shop!!

I would do, but I have a problem with the author being a child abuser. And they are all gone now, the bins were collected today.

I still feel wrong about throwing out books though.

I just finished THE BUNKER, by James O'Donnell.  Written in the mid-1970's, this is a detailed account of Hitler's last days, based on 500 hours of interviews with some 40 survivors of the Fuhrerbunker in Berlin.  Fascinating, repulsive, and pathetic, this account of the dying gasps of the Third Reich should be required reading for everyone who promotes the ridiculous lie that Hitler somehow escaped from the rubble of Berlin, made it past the entire Red Army, and escaped to safety in South America or somewhere else.  Lots of historical details, as well as almost amusing accounts of the lies, backstabbing, and power-grabbing among the pitiful remnants of the Nazi leadership that persisted right up to the last minute.

Looked for that at my libraries catalog, couldn't find that one but wonder how it compares to In the bunker with Hitler : 23 July 1944 -- 29 April 1945 (2007) By Freytag Von Loringhoven and Inside Hitler's bunker : the last days of the Third Reich (2004) By Fest, Joachim C.

Wow, three books on being in the bunker with Hitler.  (And I'm sure there's more under different titles...)

I've read Fest's biography of Hitler but I wasn't aware of the book you mentioned.
I'd bet that  the two more recent ones have greater perspective and analysis, while O'Donnell probably talked to more eyewitnesses.

Regarding your books: there is a chain of religious bookstores here called Christelike Uitgewers Maatskappy (Christian Book Publishers) and I will check with them to see if they have your books.

Thank you sir!  I know they are available on Amazon at a pretty reasonable price here in the States, but I don't know what that translates to overseas.  The Ebooks are also carried on Barnes and Noble and ITunes websites.

I've been on a PD James bender this year, serially reading or re-reading four of her novels, and it's reinforced in my mind that she was among the best writers of her time, in any genre. Her scope, her chilly classiness, her imagination were matched by few others.

i just started rereading the jane eyre series by jasper fforde, i love these! i really need to get more of his books, he's a briiliant writer.

Some time ago I finished the whole Bond series and that was fun to read in a row. Now I'm on the complete Holmes series, which is also fun, especially as I have recently watched the Sherlock series and there were quite a few neat nods to the original work that I did not know of.
