What grinds my gears is (are?) the smartphone/internet/Bluetooth zombies society has bred. Aside from the fact you can't talk to them with their phone constantly distracting them (and I have told such people I'll talk to them sometime when their battery is dead and was then called "rude" for saying it), they seem to exist in a closed universe from which they refuse to look beyond.

I'll make a reference to something, anything it seems (Liberace, potted meat, party lines on phones, references in new films that come from older films or talking about the original movie/tv series that a new film is a remake/reboot/rehash/rip off of), and get a blank stare or just plain ignored. On the RARE occasion someone asks me to explain, they are distrustful, like I'm demented or something. When I say, "Okay, then Google it.", they don't. You got the whole frigging internet literally at your fingertips, but you can't be bothered to stop staring at Facebook updates ("Here's what I'm eating right now!") for two seconds to learn something new.

However, if I don't IMMEDIATELY check out what one of these people send to me, then I'm told that "time didn't stop in the 80s, you know." They are right; it didn't, but seems like a lot of people became close-minded, self-involved jackasses since then.

On the flip side, since I talk to lots and lots of veterans at my job, older veterans call me "buddy" and "brother" because I CAN talk about things they can relate to. Being called that by a veteran damn near makes me cry every time it happens.

Youth today are getting sweep up in the culture of narcissism. Everybody seems to want and crave attention, be it through Facebook likes, replies, or Twitter retweets yet none of that really matters very much at all in reality. Doesn't help of course that people often because famous nowadays despite having no discernible talent or ability in many cases. The book The Culture of Narcissism: American Life in an Age of Diminishing Expectations by Christopher Lasch seemed to predict this way back in 1979.

Heavy bump, but this here is getting on my nerves. I'm doing math homework online and it's hit or miss with my answers, the miss has an option to practice a similar option. Problem is that sometimes this comes up:

Which boggles my mind as to how there isn't a similar type problem that shows steps to getting the problem.
But why not read the text book you might ask? Well, that's because me and textbooks have an estranged relationship, especially  math text books, that makes them vague and poorly explained, meaning that I don't understand how they got to there without thinking it was by the power magic and bulls**t.
yeah no.

Really annoyed with myself by missing a rugby match I wanted to see, especially when the team I support won it.

I hate being the last person to post in a topic.

I don't just mean the most recent person, I mean after I post the topic dies and nobody ever replies again.

Feeling a bit bored just now and the forum has been pretty quiet today.

How dare any of you have lives outside this place and go do other things. :P

Ghost faces annoy me.

A ghost face is someone in the dark with his face glued to a smartphone. He looks like a ghost face floating along.

These twits impair their night vision with their video screens making themselves a navigational hazard. In some cases I've had to avoid them because they weren't worth the trouble of colliding with.

Christ these people by blinding themselves and often deafening themselves  as they plod along in the night make good mugger bait. The often encourage a mugger to go after more people by making themselves easy targets. Their idiocy irritates me.
