We got the video done a few months back.  The local public access tv station is right next to the video production room at school.  This meant it got broadcast on halloween and we had access to infinite shots of dials and guages for the inside of the spaceship.
The outside of the spaceship was a pair of huge plastic flower pots we 'found' outside the video production room.  We tied them together and lowered them off a fire escape with a rope for the ship landing.  We were able to open the thing up like a clamshell and have people climb in and out of it.  Yes, we put them back when we were done with them.
Our monster was basically three sleeping bags.  Two of them were duct taped together into a huge pair of pants worn by our friend who was inside.  The third was used as it's head, with large paper cups duct taped inside a teeth.  We reversed the film to have it eat people.
I'm actualy kind of proud of it.  We reproduced the 'looking around in spaceship' scene almost exactly.  In the end I kill the monster by kicking it in the nuts.

Way back in 1995, I attempted my own version of THE CREEPING TERROR that I shot on a VHS Panasonic camera, which today has now bit the dust. And I'll tell you the story:

I first saw THE CREEPING TERROR on TV in 1995 when the new Svengoolie appeared on WCIU-TV Channel 26. Today, Svengoolie is still on and I catch him from time to time. Anyway, I saw the film and I really liked it. Now, this was years and years ago, so now my opinion on the original film has indeed changed alot. But at that time, I thought THE CREEPING TERROR was "a great film". And because of that, I really wanted to venture out and make a new version of the film. My grandpa, a video nut, gave me his old Panasonic VHS camera and I used it to do some stop-motion shorts. But the stop motion effects were just terrible, and after a few bad trials I switched to live action and my first attempt was a remake of THE CREEPING TERROR.

Back then, I didn't know what I was doing so when I made the film everything was just plain wrong. I actually attempted writing a script, which me and my friends ended up throwing away during the shooting process. One of my friends complained that he only had three lines in the shooting script, but hey that's showbusiness for ya'. The monster itself was nothing but two blankets, with differing colors, that was operated by three people (sometimes one, depending on the shooting days). I don't think I took credit for the monster design, which back then I thought was very creative of me. The film was shot in the late summer and finished in the early fall, thus the foliage background quickly changes when noticed. The entire video was shot in sequence order, but the editing was done during the shooting and whatever mistake was made, rest assured it's in the original cut. And, of course, the performances are incredibly silly. My presense in the film didn't fare better either: today, I could do a much more moderate job than what I did back in 1995. Plus, whenever somebody was eaten by the monster, the victim would return as another different character and would be eaten again! Talk about crazy, but this was all I had to work with.

Just recently, I began restoring the film and adding some extra sequences to help explain all the illogical events. As well as polishing the original editing (which was a hack job on my part, so I take responsibility for that), I even added a stock music score and some "harrowing narration" done by yours truely. The editing is not finished yet, but hopefully I can save the film from a tragic destruction of age.

Looking back on it, my CREEPING TERROR remake was one hell of a tragic folley that ended up being compleated. Today, when looking at it, it remains as a fun time capsule of my own youth that I will probably never get back. And as for those who were involved with the film, they still speak to me. But they probably never look at me the same as they used to.
