DEATH CURSE OF TARTU (1966) was on TCM this afternoon.  It is the BEST bad movie I have looked at all year!  Stupendously dreadful, I did see BMDO members have written about this in the past, but not in its own thread (and it deserves one).

The "zombie" wears pantyhose.  Of course, he turns into a human looking native (Seminole?)  And though strong enough to lift the lid off of his "stone" (papier mache) tomb that our hero could NOT lift, zombie gets REAL weak, slow, and dumb when actually battling our "hero".  I enjoyed how the "hero" and "heroine" can't get out of the "cave" because the stone in front of it is too heavy to move.  The two "blow" their way out with gunpowder from three bullets.  "Hero" slips through the opening on his second time out and you can see a slight bump makes it look like the "stone" might jiggle loose... they should have done the hippy hippy shake, that would have gotten that dang stone out of the way.
A female companion runs in terror and runs in terror from an alligator on the grass... so, let's go for a swim because an alligator can't be faster in the water than on land... and she out-swims it... only to climb a tree so she can dangle from a branch while gator waits for her below.  We see her wrestling an unconvincing prop and blood on her arm, then none, she's dead and the "hero" picks her up and suddenly she's on the ground again and NOT picked up... but at least there's blood running out of her nose and mouth (you know how hand bites cause internal bleeding...)
  THIS IS HORRORible!

With a title that contains "death" & "curse" & a made up word I wouldn't expect it to be good, but it does sound entertaining. You've piqued my curiosity; should I look for a copy?

It might be dull, as I only seriously watched the last half hour or so.  It is truly rotten.  Amusingly so.  I would buy a copy if it was CHEAP because this baby is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP.  The little birdie say.

the commentary track on this one on the something weird version is amazing. there were water mocassins and the actors didn't want to go in the water, so the director said water mocassins were afraid of people, which isnt true. their bites are extremely painful. He also noted that virtually all the area they were in is now condos and real estate and so forth. The movie its paired with Sting of Death is a bit better

Just watched a bit of the snake scene.  :bouncegiggle: They should show this film at the annual Florida python hunt.

Too bad the locations are now condos.

Director William Grefe also directed the moronic biker movie the WILD REBELS (1967) which I saw last week on Tubi. Damn bad! The biker gang consist of 3 morons against an ex-stock car racer/ rock singer (with a scene of him lip-syncing to a horrifying tune in a bar).He also did the killer snakes movie STANLEY and the great Shatner psycho movie IMPULSE!

Maybe the makers of this film are the reason there are thousands of giant snakes now prowling the Everglades, gobbling up poodles and alligators.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

If Florida gets gobbled by anything it will be a blessing to mankind.

Probably not; here's a pic of a Burmese Python, the type of snake that's invading Florida:

From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burmese_python Includes more pictures, most look about the same.

The snake in this movie is more green than brown, & it didn't have as many splotches.

There are some crazy folks there, but there are nice folk too. Also neat architecture, tropic plants, interesting wildlife, & lots of coasts, from which one can watch the sun rise or set. Not all bad.

If you want to stock your aquarium take a fishing trip to the lakes and canals in Florida.

They are now chock full of released aquarium fish like guppies and Oscars - and they're eating up all the native fish.
