Ash

I was bored tonight so I decided to pop "Flash Gordon" into the ol' VHS player.

I hadn't watched it in at least 6 months or so...I figured "What the hell?"

The beginning of this film contains one of the best oxymorons I've seen in a movie.
On Ming's control panel many different earth disasters are listed as you well probably know from having seen this movie countless times like I have.
The best?

HOT HAIL

Hehe!

If hail is made of ICE...how the heck can it be hot!?

Can you think of any other funny oxymorons in a movie?

Evil Matt

One should never question the unbridled genius that is "Flash Gordon".

Questioning the unbridled genius of "Flash Gordon" is totally...nevermind...

Everything's funnier with monkeys.

Cullen

Hot Hail.

Now there's an evil genius for you.

The Burgomaster

Not really an oxymoron, but:

In the Clint Eastwood movie THE ENFORCER, they keep referring to a "LAWS rocket."  What they mean is a LAW or "Light Anti-tank Weapon."  It just bugged me that they kept saying "LAWS rocket" instead of just "LAW."

Sounds like rain to me!

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

Sounds like steam to me...

Going places unmapped, to do things unplanned, to people unsuspecting

Cullen

Sounds like something really cold and hard covered in flames, burning its way from the heavens to...

Wait a second.

This is Flash Gordon we're talking about, isn't it?

Disregard.

I *was* just starting to think that 'this much thought and discussion about Flash Gordon is just...wrong"

Maybe they were afraid that "LAW rocket" would sound like something a lawyer would use.
