A comment on this-
I was first introduced to the world of horror movies as  fandom when I was 7 in 1969 when I saw a stack of back issues of Famous Monsters at my foster parents house in Indiana. The neighbor kid's big brother had a stack of them. I bought my first one in 1970. I also bought a CASTLE OF FRANKENSTEIN, which was much more adult. I bought both every f**king month until CoF went out of business in about 1974, and quit buying FM when Star Wars took over the magazine. Buy that time I was reading lotsa books and lotsa comic books.
