When I was a kid, I did lotsa model kits. I did all the Aurora monsters (except for the Bride of Frankenstein, because she dame out in the 60's, and wasn't continued into 1970, when I started buying them.)
I also had some WW2 bomber planes (American and German), and a Rat Phink model.
And a Barnabus Collins model, and a Vampirella model that came with a Frankenstein!

I'm going back into modeling- I just bought a Dracula's Dragster!

Good for you mate. I used to do model dinosaurs as a kid (Triceratops was my favourite). These days a lot of the tanks I use for wargaming are plastic kits.

I liked space ship model kits.

The Burgomaster

The first one I ever got was the Hulk. I was about 5 or 6 years old and I remember going to the store with my mother and grandmother to buy it.

Then I got all the Aurora monster models (except the Bride of Frankenstein, like RC). I used the optional glow-in-the-dark parts.

I also had a Dick Tracy model (like the one below, but mine wasn't painted).

I had this pirate model (it was part of a series of models that moved):

I also had a Klingon ship and a few others (tanks, planes, whatever).

I forgot all about the Pirates of the Caribbean kits! I had one as well, with the skeleton guy waving a sword!

I had many of them as a kid.  Including the snap together Prehistoric model kits.  My mother bought the Aurora CAVE display from a store that sold kits after I'd admired it (painted at the factory, complete with Neanderthal and Allosaurus) with cardboard display background of an exploding volcano.  Man, I wish I had that now!  I had most of the snap together Monster Scenes (like the Pain Parlor and Gruesome Goodies).  The Vampirella kit was one of the Monster Scenes as well as The Victim

I had the Vampy and Frankie from the Monster Scenes. Also a mad lab table that you could put Frankie on. I didn't have any of the others.

I also had the triceratops and T-Rex (with the drool hanging of his tounge!) snap together kits.
Boy, I would be all day in the winter gluing kits. That, and the oil paints and thinner to clean brushes..I would get pretty high.

Oddly, the first kit I got was Dracula. My brother Mike got Frankenstein. On Christmas, 1970.

I did some fighter jets and cars when I was kid, never any figures.  Uncle used to always paint or apply decals.  I am heavy handed and poor with certain fine movements.

Nice choice, RC would love to see when completed.
Ah, the good old days.

Oh yeah. I ain't gonna be buying no $100 or more kits. Hell-I'll go $30.
Back in the day, and Aurora 'Glow' monster kit was $1.50. We used old Paint -By-Number paint from my sisters kittens sets.
The glue we used teenagers would huff on purpose. We just got high because we made kits in the winter after we got some at Christmas.
