Which holiday? Oh, you mean Christmas? It's A Wonderful Life is tough to beat but I remember being little and seeing this enjoyable movie where a family is gathered for Christmas and someone starts murdering them, I think with an ax. A girl hid under a log....and her....aunt, who was the killer, thought she was dead at the end and she wasn't? I was about four and it blew my mind, Christmas and murder. Maybe I'm confusing more than one film, this was ages back and my Uncle Patrick, who used to read me Poe stories when I was a toddler, let me watch it with him. I should see that again. Ironically----causal link here----his daughter later tried to stab me to death, though not at Christmastime. I know it's a shock to all of you, the thought anyone would want to stab me, eh?

I "think" this is the movie I was talking about up there, the one I saw at Christmastime when I was four:

No,  I meant arbor day. I was wondering what movies have been made dedicated to it.  I've had a hard time finding any. It's a terrible slight to a day i'm sure someone must have died for somehow...

Yes.  Especially when guns are so easy to get in america. (And you know you opened the door  for that. I can only resist so much temptation...)

my least favorite is the weird Mexican Santa Claus movie with the devil in it

Some bad movie fan you are!

My least favorite is IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Never been able to make it through that one in a single sitting.

I'm the kind of bad move fan who can appreciate the weirdness and the creepiness of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Santa spies on kids! Santa meets Martians! What more can one hope for in a bad movie.  :teddyr: :teddyr: :teddyr:
Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

My favorite is the 1951 version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Alistair Sim.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE should be a maple tree because it's full of sap.
I don't care for it.

You know beavis and butthead kind of parodies IAWL. That weren't really dead on but it was kind of close to being right.

Easily the best version.

I own a DVD of SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS, it was a gift.     I hate it.  Boring.

List some of your favorite holiday movies.
Scrooge the musical.  Albert Finney,  Alec guiness. I don't give a damn what people  say,  I like this one!

A Christmas carol starring George c. Scott,  best version AFAIC.
A Christmas carol starring Patrick Stewart,   a damn close close second.
Worst Christmas movie ever made: Santa Claus conquers the martians.
We agree, I don't like SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTIANS at all, it's boring.  Some love it; not me.

I also like SCROOGE (1970) starring ALBERT FINNEY .

That PATRICK STEWART (whom I like) CHRISTMAS CAROL is not good, particularly the glowing eyes of the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (corny).

However, GEORGE C. SCOTT's A CHRISTMAS CAROL is wonderful!  Fantastic performance by a true master.

Santa Claus (1959) And Santa Claus Conquers The Martians are good when inflicting them on others, like at a bad movie party... And of course, I just love inflicting Hooray For Santy Claus onto radio listeners!

It's A Wonderful Life is just plain depressing... George Bailey puts up a bold front as his dreams, goals, ambitions & life's work are all systematically ripped up & thrown back in his face.... Yeah, there's supposed to be a steady subtext that comes to a head in the end that he has love & friendship in his life, but it's not really fleshed out in a way that justifies his life getting screwed the way it is...

Jim Carey's Grinch! God, that's creepy! Like The Leprechaun & The Joker got together & had a kid, then stuck him in a really formulaic excuse for a movie.

How Murray Saved Christmas... Not exactly for kids, not politically correct in places, and a few jokes specific to the Reagan era, And I love it!

The original Grinch Is an excellent work, based on an excellent piece if literature, with excellent casting and an excellent soundtrack!

Hardware (1990) Okay, so it was actually released in the summer, but they keep dropping hints that it's sometime in late December, with with the occasional Christmas decor placed throughout the film. And While I recently found out the title song, The Order Of Death by Public Image Ltd. was taken from the movie Cop Killer (1983), It's still one of those song I enjoy inflicting on radio listeners at this time of year...

To be honest I can't watch scrooged.  I mean I love ACC,  but leave it to SNL to take one of the best stories in English literature and xxxx it up to the point it's  unwatchable. I think it's  the only live version I just can't watch.
