this is the thread for all 1747 marzipan hedgehog related items.



This is from a recipe book from 1747 for march-pane (marzipan) hedgehogs. are hedgehogs the same as porcupines? they look similar

This is, I guess, what British families did as a joke to point out how destitute they were in contrast to the King who took all their money.

it suggests pouring custard outside the hogs so it will be a "pretty dish" well I don't know if i agree but there it is.
