I just sat through THE DAY TIME ENDED (1979) and have no real clue what was going on. probably like everyone involved with it.

http://youtu.be/t2PkSwkhSas

STARCRASH is the 'high' point of this genre for me.

any other curios or monstrosities from this era ? good or bad will do.

edit - they don't have to be specific rip-offs or homages to other sci-fi films btw

Alex

I remember as a young boy seeing 'The Humanoid' with my mum in the cinema. Always had a soft spot for it ever since.

Star crash was the height of the genre for you? Oh  puhleeeze. While Caroline munroe in the space dominatrix outfit was awesome asides from that "battle beyond the stars" beat that movie like i beat trump  voters when there are no witnesses around.  Plus it had Sybil danning's tits in it.  I think the rest of her was there too.

"Galaxy of terror" was a great if controversial movie on a budget.

The doctor that circumcised Trump threw away the wrong piece.

hmm don't think I've seen either of those 2, thanks...

INSEMINOID is one I have affection for. It's really crappy but I like it. Stephanie Beacham is hilariously miscast

They're both roger corman movies.  Battle beyond the stars features a starship tt si basically a flying pair of tits.

Of all the STAR WARS rip offs, STARCRASH is most certainly my favorite. I'll watch this over any Star Bores junk anyday.

Remember CHARIOTS OF THE GODS? (1970)?
Remember OVERLORDS OF THE UFO (1976)? No?
This is the stupidest documentary I have ever seen.

Here's the whole f**king mind bending thing!

I enjoy Message From Space

Sorry...

Tho it can be a LOT to take in all at once.

A timewarp sent a family through multiple dimensions, where they met other beings lost in time, some friendly, most hostile. Eventually they escape the timewarp to make a new life on an alien planet. Just an excuse to try out different FX techniques, which is why I enjoy it.

Sorry...

Alex

If you've not seen it, Lifeforce is also worth checking out.

I've seen LIFEFORCE (just last year in fact), pretty good. Never heard of MESSAGE FROM SPACE though, thanks.

They're both roger corman movies.
the Corman space film attempt I have seen is FORBIDDEN WORLD (1982), which should win the award for 'most useless robot character in movie history'. :)

will check out that documentary RC thanks

Message From Space Review: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/messagespace/

I've not seen Battle Beyond the Stars, but I have seen Space Raiders, which re-used some of the FX.

Still haven't seen Starcrash or Lifeforce either. I have a copy of Starcrash's sequel, but haven't watched it; the plot sounds like porn. (It came in a 50 pack.)

You might want to try Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone and The Last Starfighter. Tho I'm not sure those were cheap movies...

STARCRASH reminds me of those youtube vids where someone tries to condense an entire movie into 90 seconds, except the entire film is like that. never knew it had a sequel...

haha that's loads thanks...out of those I've only seen WITHOUT WARNING and THE VISITOR.

Pacman000

Hanger 18 is good, if I remember correctly.

Star Odyssey is fun...for all the wrong reasons: http://www.badmovies.org/movies/starodyssey/ The version I saw didn't even have all the scenes in the right order.

Same director made Cosmos: War of the Planets & War of the Robots. Enjoyed Cosmos; Robots was boring.

Andrew didn't review Cosmos; here's a review from 1000MispentHours: http://1000misspenthours.com/reviews/reviewsa-d/cosmoswaroftheplanets.htm

Not a true sequel, but a similar movie which re-used the same FX & was marketed as a sequel in some territories: Escape from Galaxy 3

http://www.monstershack.net/sp/index.php/escape-from-galaxy-3-1981/

Plot: While escaping an Evil Overloard two space warriors crash on a distant planet (Earth) where they have sex with the natives till the Overloard shows up.
