I really don't get this stupid superhero fever. Those movies were cool when they started with Spider-man and X-men but then went quite stupid, now it's like, the only thing to watch.

Seriously, they suck, and they're all probably exactly the same. It's amazing how easy is to force people into consuming garbage.

I tend to be surprised how much I like them when they're standalone films, but I'm not crazy about the "extended universe" thing. That's shameless marketing. Haven't watched any of the AVENGERS movies since the first one. Have close to zero interest, on a personal level, in ENDGAME.

But, you see, that's my main gripe right there. Most people I know who watches these things hates them, yet they keep giving their money away - the Transformers disasters are the main example.
It happens also with books: I see readers buy extremely expensive works from famous authors only to feel disappointed by them. Yet, as soon they finish reading, they're all like "welp, I'm going to buy the next one".

We deserve all the crap we get, there's no doubt about it.

Many years ago Pauline Kael argued that, since bad movies are easier to make and are guaranteed money, putting out good movies would be a bad business plan for Hollywood studios. Why should they risk upsetting the gravy train? Her tongue was in her cheek but she wasn't that far off.
