My god, talk about awful! this was directed by Jane Campion, (she directed the Piano so now everyone in the art film community thinks she's hot s**t), and the plot was so ridiculous. it was like Seven but re-made into a real bad art film. Mark Rufallo, a more independant film actor, was in this which is a shame because I think Rufallo usually does a real good job of acting in well-chosen roles. The characters were like cardboard cut-outs and they had no substance.

did anyone else out there catch this, and what did you think if you did?

Mr_Vindictive

I'm trying to stay away from this one.  Usually, like you said, Rufallo does a pretty good job (Last Castle, etc); but this film just looks like a standard thriller to me.  It probably ends with Rufallo being the killer and Meg Ryan crying.

Like I said, I'm Gonna Stay Away From It.

good decision! my buddy tried to convince me to, but i just wouldn't listen...

Take the same course of action with Cold Creek Manor.  My wife talked me into renting it a few nights ago.  By the end of the film, I wanted to be dead.

Horrible flick!

Chopper

was that one of those cheesy new hollywood ghost flicks? it did look pretty sorry.

Mr_Vindictive

The trailers and commericals made it look like a ghost story.

Wrong.

It was Stephen Dorff prancing around Dennis Quaid and Sharon Stone supposedly "terrorizing them".

Really horrible uninspired rehash mystery crap.

LoL, Stephen Dorff, is he the same dude who played the psycho in Child's Play?

Deej

You're thinking of Brad Dourif. Stephen Dorff played the lamest, most LD, gang leader ever in Deuces Wild. CRAPTASTIC!! But not in a good way!

HAHA, I see. you and Skaboi have both helped me with a stunning enlightenment that i've been getting these 2 actors confused my whole life!
Brad Dourif is the guy they always pull out of the closet when they need a 2-D, stereotypical, psycho. & interesting enough he has a pretty impressive body of B-movie work: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000374/

Yeah, he's pretty much the "go to" weird guy. But, I like him and he's also done some really good stuff. As for Stephen Dorff...hammer-punch on the clavicle!

Cold Creek Manor sucks so bad. I must admit they did a pretty good job marketing it, they made it look good. What was the deal with the snakes? Were we supposed to laugh at this? I think Roger Ebert put it best,"Ever get the feeling that a movie is made up entirely of deleted scenes?" To anybody who saw this in the thearte like I did, I feel your pain.
