It's actually an apeman! Played by Bull Montana- who played the same role in a couple movies!

Bull also played an apeman in GO AND GET IT (1920) and VANISHING MILLIONS (1926) as an apeman too! This picture is from GO AND GET IT (1920).

Yes, RCM, lobster man from mars has a gorilla in it as a tribute to robot monster. If you  haven't seen it yet you should. It's  kinda like "the producers" with a terrible homemade Scifi film,  the title, standing in for "springtime for hitler".

Though it's an ORANGUTAN, I watched EVERY WHICH WAY BUT LOOSE last night and liked it much more than I'd thought.  It's quite amusing.
