Someone said something interesting me in a far-fetched way. She said she thinks "now that gays have achieved acceptance" that pedophiles are next in line, and that the recent upsurge in stories about Michael Jackson's alleged sexuality are not unintentional but part of an effort to ease society into thinking "well I liked Michael and if he was a pedophile maybe pedophiles aren't so bad." She laid out a (prediction) case that this is going on and in the '20s there will be a push to make pedophiles the next group to gain societal approval.

I don't know that she's right but the more I listened and thought about it the less implausible it began to seem since there will always be a desire out there to push back the boundaries of what is tolerated.

I don't think I'd want to live in a culture that allowed children to become sexual targets.

A federal judge with a transparent agenda said the people weren't smart enough to make that decision.

Well in america we have constitution el rights that can't be violated even if the najoroity want to. Basically 51% of american can't vote to enslave 49% due to basic rights that are inviolable.

It took a while but america finally realized marriage is a right that all are entitled to even if a majority don't like it.

I get the spirit of what you're saying but the constitution also mandates that states  handle the making of all laws that do not specifically fall under federal jurisdiction, and the constitution says nothing about marriage and to my knowledge there has never been a federal marriage license. Marriage has always been under the jurisdiction of individual states, so for the federal government to step in and claim constitutional authority over marriage strikes a lot of people as out of bounds.

Do I dislike homosexual marriage? No. Do I think there is too much judicial activism? Well, I do when I don't like the ruling.  (How's that for candor?)

PS Are you sure you mean "all" are entitled to marriage? Even a pedophile marrying a child? Or a parent marrying an offspring? Don't you think there should be some limits?

You may want to point out the states that have banned abortions or tried to since January of this year, which may be out of panic, maybe not, but I'm thoroughly convinced was a well intentioned effort to prevent mankind from going over the edge.

So a few extremists make a few outrageous proposals and suddenly all democrats believe it?  Why is it when I point out that some religious types advocate extremism and violence I get told they're just a fee nuts,  but if a single gay,  or democrat,  or liberal,  does or says anything heinous suddely the whole left is painted with that brush?

I'm  a leftist and proud. I oppose vehemently any form of pedophilia. I support abortion rights because I believe no man shouildbe able tofmorce a woman to go thru with pregnancy until men can get pregnant and thru history women have been subjugated by men, it's time for them to have freedom.
