Not really, but I know the name.

Yes, Tony Clifton once threw food on her on TV.

Yes, she made that kinda preachy/kinda nice Free To Be You And Me show.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

MIKE DOUGLAS had a great talk show which I used to watch with my mother when I got home from school.  JOHN LENNON and YOKO ONO co-hosted with him for a whole week.  He had SAMMY DAVIS JR. as a guest once who shocked MIKE with the candor he expressed about certain military experiences.

DINAH SHORE also had a talk show in the 1970s, started as a singer in the '40s, and was rumored to be "black" which was derogatory decades ago.  I still listen to Big Band occasionally and always glad to hear her singing.

MARLO THOMAS was the star of "That Girl" and played a lovely wholesome single city-living girl before MARY TYLER MOORE  had her show.   Her father was the gentleman DANNY THOMAS who founded St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.  She continues her father's work.  I love her and her dad.

Yes, I remember them all. I'm old like you.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Yup, yup, and yup, I remember 'em all.

I have vague memories of Dinah Shore's talk show on TV - I assume my parents (or maybe grandparents) used to watch it. I think she was also a spokesperson for a chicken brand (Purdue? Tyson?).

I still see Marlo Thomas on TV occasionally asking for donations for St. Jude Children's Hospital (founded by her father, Danny Thomas), especially during the holidays.

Mike Douglas' 1974 interview with Gene Simmons of KISS is one of my favorite things ever:

I love how comedienne Totie Fields (Mike's other guest) is not impressed his I-Am-Evil-Incarnate schtick at all. "Wouldn't it be funny if he were just a nice Jewish boy from Queens?"
"If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

And all are in some way related to talk shows! (Marlo married Phil Donahue.)

I know Dinah Shore but I'm not familiar with the other two.

The Burgomaster

I went through a phase (that lasted a few years) when I was a kid where I would watch either Mike Douglas or Merv Griffin every afternoon. Typical guests at that time were Burt Reynolds, Totie Fields, Robert Goulet, Charro, Don Rickles, and Mel Torme.

I was never much of a Dinah Shore fan, but I remember her talk show and I also remember when she was involved with Burt Reynolds.

I watched Marlo Thomas a lot on "That Girl" when I was a kid.

I admit I had only heard of Dinah Shore when I was younger because of the jokes people made about how her name sounded like "dinosaur".
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...
