It was a cyborg,  RC.

Striking how the depicted future in Logan's Run looks so much like 1970s mall culture. I watched this movie and told myself maybe that was intentional and a more intelligent aspect of the presentation than it seemed, since trappings of past eras are always present in subsequent times. (Victorian London was mostly made up of Georgian structures, our cities today are composed of art deco-style skyscrapers and post-war glass towers and other buildings from the recent past.) But then I remembered Logan's Run takes place in a world entirely created after the devastation of the outer landscape, and I thought how maybe in the '70s malls represented the future and that was as far as imagination carried the makers of the movie. So yes this movie looks like a trip to a mid-70s megamall.
Yes, agreed.  The alternate 1970s "mall" movie was DAWN OF THE DEAD ...

all! I can say is read the book ,  guys. You won't believe how pale the movie is in contrast.
The book doesn't need to be read to make the movie pale.

The robot towards the end was pretty dam stupid looking.

Other than PETER USTINOV... BOX was my favorite part of the movie (ROSCOE LEE BROWN).  Cyborg schmorgasborg.

I reckon I'm the only person who didn't care for it.
I thought it was a mish-mash of old sci-fi under ground society ideas with a payoff I could see a mile away.
Perfect for a TV show (that lasted a very short time, and had no impact. Us geeks are likely the only ones who even know that it ever happened.)
Yes- it had some good actors. It is in the right section. It's a BAD movie.

There are a couple of things I like about LOGAN'S RUN (JENNY AGUTTER) but, it always struck me as kind of cheapo.  I watched some of it recently and have seen it numerous times; cannot claim to be a fan either.

If one was alive in 1976, when the film was 1st released to theaters, one would now realize it was a film that was very much a product of its time and place. Which is why I'd like to see a remake, as to see how now would differ from then. One difference would be the Age of Renewal. In the original film, it was 30, In the remake, it'd have gone back to the age in the book or 21. Which I think makes more sense.

The film, oddly enough or maybe not, had what I thought was one of the greatest gunbattles I ever saw in a film. As Logan and the Sandmen shot it out with each other towards the end of the film.

You like peter ustinov? What other movies of his do you like? I liked his poirot movies and quo vadis. His Nero was not really historically accurate, but his protrayel of Nero's insanity was good.

Box was in the novel but completely different.

I'm truly impressed by all the tidbits of information about the film that are being posted in this thread. It's one of the things I love about the Badmovies folk.

Logan's Run was screened on TV when I was a kid, and the TV series turned up in Australia, too. The people flying around and exploding was pretty freaky! Before I bought the DVD's of both, I (cough) found an online version (cough) of the original movie, and I was surprised at the long, drawn out fight towards the end. As an adult, you see things you didn't as a kid, like how beautiful Jenny Agutter was back then. I haven't watched the TV show yet, but that's on the list of things I'll get around to, in time.

One thing I'll say for for Logan 's run. I liked the look of those sandman's guns.
