The other "It!" (With roddy McDowell)

We've had "It!  the terror from beyond space" and of course the It clown movies.

Well,  let me bring up another It,  the one with roddy McDowell finding the golem.

Yes,  that  golem.



Basically mcdowell played an abused,  exploited,  timid little museum worker who realizes the museums newest exhibit is none other than  the mythical Golem of Prague. He consults a Jewish rabbi for a translation of a message found with it and gets some very ominous news.

Needless to say once he realizes the power at his fingertips this long suffering and abused little  guy starts fighting back, ordering the golem to kill his shrill, demeaning and abusive boss in a scene modern audiences are likely to cheer is a first,  unplanned act.

Mcdowell's  character is not a typical villain, once h realizes how bad the things he has done  are he seems to apologize to the mute golem for making it do terrible things. Realizing the power of the golem is too much for any man to posses he takes steps to keep anyone else from getting it possibly as an effort at redemption.

The golem in It was radically indifferent from the classic silent movie golem (BTW that was a classic horror movie,  why is it never mentioned here come to think of it?)  and is one unique and strange looking monster costume.  See above. The golem in the one of the left. ;)

More of a closeup. There really is just something simple but effective about the golem's face that's not quite like any other movie monster I can think of.

You didn't mention the PSYCHO sub-plot with Roddy's dead mother siting around the house!
