Any scripture from any time period.

"I have become death, destroyer of worlds."
The Bhagavad Gita
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

"Let nor your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe also in me."  John Ch. 14
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

"The length of days is not what makes age honorable, nor number of years the true measure of life."

The Book of Wisdom, Chapter 4, Verse 8

What does not kill me makes me stranger.

Olivia Bauer

"Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God."

Matthew 19:24

I don't believe in Heaven, and I don't care for most of the Bible. But anti-rich sentiment will always put a smile on my face.

I like thinking about how according to their own book the owners of mega churches that endorse "seed faith", don't pay taxes, and don't do charity, are going to burn in hell.

Especially someone like Pat Robertson who diverts African aid to mine diamonds for him. It alarms me how many modern Christians like to ignore all the GOOD teachings from the Bible.

Movie related: Matthew 10 verse 36.

And a man's foes shall be they of his own household

Breaker Morant (1980)
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Gabriel Knight

I'm not a religious man but I always liked Psalm 23:4 from the Bible. It's partially present in the movie THE BOOK OF ELI.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

"It is impossible to measure the merit they will accrue, those who practice compassion and charity."

---Words attributed to Buddha, from The Diamond Sutra
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

"Many fall, but one remains."

Another movie related quote: Proverbs 21 verse 7.

QuoteThe getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death. The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment. The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.

Said by the blind insane soldier in David Millin's Ride The High Wind: when this old guy appears from behind a curtain and in a lightning flash, I nearly crapped myself and I was the one screening the film!  :buggedout:
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.

Don't ask me for the chapter and verse, but I've always liked the bit about reaping what you sow.
Hail to thyself
For I am my own master
I am my own god
I require no shepherd
For I am no sheep.

That's from the apostles Paul and Iggy Pop, in Galatians and "Perfect Day" respectively.
