There's a lot to be said about posters that suck, but what about posters that are actually very well made?
Take this legend for example:

A photo by Philippe Halsman and Salvador Dali was hidden on the poster for Silence of the Lambs.

The piece is called In Voluptas Mors and features several nude women forming a skull with their bodies.
Use of this piece in Silence of the Lambs is very fitting given the themes of the movie.
Also, I'm just a sucker for subtlety. So I adore that the Dali photo is secretly hidden and not front and center.

Rev. Powell

That's fascinating, I did not know that.

On a far less subtle note, I like this Japanese poster for Tobe Hooper's LIFEFORCE.

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

One of the coolest posters I have ever seen!

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)
Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

I don't know what this is all about, but I love it!

I like this one. Just because the poster looks like a jar of Jiff!
It's sad when a porno has a better poster than the new blockbusters.

I can't imagine a movie with this title being released to theaters nowadays.

Or this poster.
Where is the raw grittiness or beautiful paintings that went into the art of movie posters? All this sh!t with just showing the actors face in bad photoshop crap is getting old.  :bluesad

The movie itself was kinda disappointing but I ADORE this poster.
It's so ominous. You just wonder, what's out there in the darkness. What is the dog looking at.
What is the poster talking about? What comes at night?

It's pretty brilliant.

I have not seen a good movie poster in years. No hand drawn art. Just photoshop cleaned up (can't have pimples!) of the star, or stars, holding guns or brooding like goth brats.
