Company Christmas parties

I've never went to a christmas party for the company I'm working for now, but I've been to a few 'private' christmas parties with a couple of colleagues from work. The reason I never go to our company's christmas parties is because of certain people from work I rather not mingle with. Quite frankly they are a***oles I usually avoid at work. I prefer not to fake it with these people at parties. As it turned out I'm not the only one who feels like this, hence our private christmas parties.

Our private gathering is a nice meal at a restaurant, and they are always fun. While we tried to keep a lid on it word did get out, so now we got three more people joining us at our yearly x-mas dinner this weekend.

Anyway, do any of you go to company christmas parties?

No, sadly. It might surprise the people here but I'm very, very uncomfortable in social situations - but not when I have to lecture or present a course - so I avoid them.

Yeah, I usta go to Honee Bear's X-Mas parties, mostly for the Mexican food and free booze.

Though another commitment will keep me from being there, last night I helped plan an office Christmas party, and I enjoyed that more than I would have the actual party.

I was only invited to one in various places I worked over the years: the crappy restraunt I worked at before going back to school. I declined to go because I hated my boss. He gave me grief for not attending.

My company Christmas party was this past Sunday... it was awesome!

i cater hubby's work party, that way we aren't expected to actually STAY.

lol My boss and I had to sneak out, then we grabbed a few coffees... 2 hour drive up north NJ

I went to one a few years back that was quite fun, but mostly I am avoiding these kind of situations mostly because if I get a few drinks in me there is more than one boss in my place that I might start chest poking and telling them what I think of them.
