If I had to describe this movie in two words it would be, "joyful insanity."

And it's got ex-child evangelist Marjoe Gortner as the hero!
I love this movie!
Rick Baker did the F/X!

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

never seen this but I do own FOOD OF THE GODS 2, which I think is an unofficial sequel...

"joyful insanity" sounds promising...

Yeah Food of the Gods 2 was made 10+ years after the original so I think its one of those sequels not all that tied to the original. Kind of like Chud 2.

The original is so fun though. If you like watching regular rats made to look  like monsters using very minimal camera techniques, this one is for you :)

LOVE this movie! zombie, it's a serious must see!
don't EVEN...EVER!

The Burgomaster

I have this on DVD and occasionally watch it back-to-back with either EMPIRE OF THE ANTS or NIGHT OF THE LEPUS.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

it goes well as a double feature with kingdom of the spiders too.

i saw the sequel years go thought it was an okay film nothing special about it i really need to watch this one though as i have started it countless times but for some reason i haven't finished it and it's not because i think it's awful i dunno why i lose interest in watching it for some reason early on i have no idea why either

The Food of the Gods was nominated for the Best Horror Film by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films in the 1976 Saturn Awards.
Michael Medved gave it the Golden Turkey Award for "Worst Rodent Movie of All Time".

I guess that makes it a "good" bad movie

It is a tiny bit "better" than Night of the Lepus, I'll give it that. I thought the sequel was more unintentionally funny.

pennywise37

i was if that was on purpose?

Archivist

Hey, is this the one with the giant bees or something?

OMG it's awful! It's the kind of movie that used to give me the willies when I was a kid. Still does, by the looks of it.
