What's the best MST3K movie that's available on VHS or DVD right now?

Bernie

Damn, I tried to answer this and immediately came up with a list of 12!  Can't help it -- they're that funny & that consistent:

Eegah
Hellcats
I Accuse My Parents
Mitchell
Red Zone Cuba
Manos:  The Hands of Fate
Angels' Revenge*
Pod People*
Skydivers*
The Sidehackers*
Space Mutiny*
Girl In Gold Boots*

* -- these are available only as part of the boxed sets

The only way to narrow it down is personal preference:  Do you prefer Joel or Mike?  Bad 60s bikers films or bad science fiction?  Incompetent independent shoestring productions or incompetent studio productions?  But you can't go wrong with any of these.

nobody

To answer your question, I prefer:

Joel, bad science fiction and ANY kind of production (studio and indy).

BTW, thanks for the list.

Bernie

Check out Pod People -- bad Canadian ET ripoff.  With one of the best song parodies ever!

Brother Ragnarok

Technically, any episode is available on VHS if you can find a good tape trader, which a buddy of mine has done.  The guy is from Wisconsin, and he tapes from a digital archive, so our bootleg copies are actually comparable in quality to the commercially released Rhino stuff.
Most of my favorite episodes are from the Sci-Fi Channel era, like Final Justice and Invasion of the Neptune Men.

Brother R

There are only two important things in life - monsters and hot chicks.
    - Rob Zombie
Rape is just cause for murdering.
    - Strapping Young Lad

Vermin Boy

Gotta go with Pod People, Manos, or Skydivers-- classics all.

-Vermin Boy

My site: The Vermin Cave
My band: The Demons of Stupidity
?????: ?????

Mr. Hockstatter

My favorites would be Mutiny in Space, Hobgoblins, and Prince of Space.  I have no idea if those are available on video though.

Flangepart

Hey, Brother Rag : Who's your source? I could use a good copy of "The Crawling eye" and "Black Scorpion" (My first MST!)
I'd gotten some from a guy, on DVD, but for some reason, the disks went bad. Man, was i cheesed!
I had "Robot holocost" and "Legend of the Dinosaurs", my first look at the UHF days of the show.

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Michael

I bought 9 episodes on VHS from some guy too and they were pretty good.  He had all the commercials edited out.  If it was the same guy I think I vaguely remember him saying that your DVD player had to play CD-R.  Did they stop
working when you got a new DVD player?

Just an idea,
Mike

Oh, and Robot Holocaust was great!

AndyC

Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Pod People, Mitchell and The Sidehackers would be my top three.

The best short is definitely Posture Pals, in the same episode as The Unearthly.

"Join me in the abyss of savings."

Diablo44.

Space Mutiny is my alltime favorite. Mitchell is my favorite Joel episode.

Flangepart

I just got the new pack, with HERCULES UNCHAINED, HERC VS. THE MOONMEN (Deeep Hurrrrting!),THE KILLER SHREWS, AND PRINCE OF SPACE!
HIKEEBA!

"Aggressivlly eccentric, and proud of it!"

Cheecky-Monkey

The Creeping Terror, The Atomic Brain, and Space Mutiny--my three favs.

Dunners

creepign terror, the biggest turd on legs but  surprisingly easy to watch and the A + riffing made it a blast.

save the world, kill a politician or two.

Ozzymandias

You can't beat a movie with the inventor of Top 40 radio, Roscoe P. Coltrane and Festus.

And Prince of Space? I like it very much.
