Ok, now I want to clarify something before I get yelled at.

I Loved Kill Bill!  (at the theater)

I was seriously let down by Kill Bill on DVD.

Eventhough my wife and I saw Kill Bill back in October at the theater and absolutely loved it, the DVD didn't hold the same experience.  Although the film is still pretty good, it is nothing compared to the original experience.

What I want to know is if anyone else had a similar experience with the DVD?  I don't really believe that it is anything due to the film not holding up to second viewings.  No way.  Like I said, still a good film.  It just seems like a completely different film on DVD.  Not as fast and not as all out fun.

Anyone else agree?

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

Jim Hepler

I've never enjoyed any movie as much on DVD as I did in the theatre, except in one or two cases where the theatre sucked or I had a completely horrible seat.

Tilebreaker

Story of Ricky at the movies was Great.  One of the funniest parts in the movie, the boxes of porn in the warden's office, just doesn't translate to DVD.  I was so let down by this, that I've refused to loan my DVD of it out.

The Burgomaster

DAWN OF THE DEAD is good on DVD . . . but there is one particular shot that is disappointing:  when Ken Foree aims his rifle directly at the screen (extreme close-up), and says, "Scary, isn't it?"  In the theater, the muzzle of the rifle was in sharp focus and seemed to be aimed directly at the heads of people in the audience.  It really WAS scary.  On DVD, the focus doesn't seem to be as sharp and the muzzle isn't as intimidating.  I have a 60 inch television, and it still doesn't have nearly the same impact as seeing it on the big screen.

As for an entire MOVIE, I'd say that Jackie Chan's LEGEND OF THE DRUNKEN MASTER was great in the theater, but it wasn't nearly as awesome on DVD.

Gecko Brothers

I like home better. You could watch the movie naked(just kidding) but seriously if you have a nice house. I ended up using a portiable dvd player in my room with wooden flooring near a window with wind blowing in and head phones to remove the rest of the world from me. Personally this is better than the theater experience. Anywhose the DvD was pretty empty no commentary or any cool stuff. THe thing I am really looking forward of Taratino is his next film his war movie Inglorious Bastards I think.

Mr_Vindictive

I think that Inglorious Bastards would be a fantastic film, but I don't think we'll see it for quite some time.

I'm still looking forward to The Vega Brothers.
