    Sometimes treated as the lame stepsister to TWILIGHT ZONE,  NIGHT GALLERY definitely was its own thing. Where TZ was generally meant to be thought-provoking, NG had one mission-to scare you as silly as possible; the humorous shorts were just breathing space.

    Which one scared you the worst? For me, it was this one....

A side note on this episode.... my younger brother and I had seen this episode, were thoroughly creeped out by it, and completely unaware that the song featured in the episode was an actual song....until it came on the radio one night, while we were there by ourselves.

     We ran out of the house so fast, we didn't even close the door.
If it's true what they say, that GOD created us in His image, then why should we not love creating, and why should we not continue to do so, as carefully and ethically as we can, on whatever scale we're capable of?

     The choice is simple; refuse to create, and refuse to grow, or build, with care and love.

Yes, a much underappreciated series at the time. I am glad that it is finally getting the recognition it deserves. I can't ever remember ever being scared by any of the stories, though the guest stars on it were great, but I do remember the blackout spot that had Leslie Nielsen playing The Phantom of the Opera, as still being one of the funniest things I have ever had the pleasure of seeing on TV. A great show and much missed.

While I did enjoy the series, personally I find it to be wildly uneven. Some stories are creepy, eerie and disturbingly twisted with startling twists and dark comeuppances - some are undoubtably quite good in that regard. Others are just silly, some are rather forgettable. That said, it is probably the best anthology series of the 1970s but honestly I consider it inferior to many that came before it in the 50s and 60s (Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, One Step Beyond, Thriller). In any case, here's some images from some of my personal favourite stories from this series.

've never understood why they added TSS episodes to this; like p**sin' in the punch, man.

Ah where's the fun in that?  :wink:

I actually kind of like "The Sixth Sense" but what they did there was disrespectful of both series IMO.

I've now added the story titles to go with the pictures above...I have to admit I have a weakness for those beautiful 70s blondes & brunettes who tended to show up on the series like Joanna Pettet, Sondra Locke, Susan Oliver, Carol Lynley and Susan Strasberg. Also you got to love appearances by stars such as Vincent Price, Burgess Meredith, Edward G. Robinson, Bill Bixby, Dean Stockwell, Stuart Whitman, Harry Townes, Patrick Macnee, Dana Andrews, John Astin, David McCallum and even more.
