This afternoon, IO9 put up a list of the weirdest vampire movies ever made;
https://io9.gizmodo.com/the-10-weirdest-vampire-movies-ever-made-1445014814
A few very good picks on here, & one or two pretty bad ones...

But I was kinda surprised this one didn't end up on the list...
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068619/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ganja_%26_Hess
A black archaeologist studying ancient African vampires, cursed when he's stabbed by an infected artifact.
And this never gets anywhere near Blackula; It's actually pretty creepy.

Dr. Hess Green is studying some relics from Myrthian culture of Nigeria... His favorite piece is a wooden stake, which after testing, discovers shares elements of human bones.
He hires George Meda to assist him in his studies, who is helpful at first, but after the first day, turns out to be a suicidal lush in a bad marriage.
During the night, Meda loses it & stabs Hess to death with the stake, then shoots himself.
Hess wakes up, unharmed, but now with a thirst for blood...

Later, Medas' wife, Ganja comes looking for him.

There are several versions of this movie, & the version I always saw on late night TV in the late eighties was the shortened version... For some reason, I never got past the part where Hess & Ganja were about to get busy... Don't quite recall if my VCR ran out of tape or if the station cut it off for time constraints or something...

I saw it under the title GANJA AND HESS. It is a very strange film!

Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)
Interviewer-"Does Dracula ever end for you?
Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

It's the only other film I have ever seen Duane Jones in besides NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968).
