I've just started watching Hannibal as lockdown has allowed me some more time to indulge in entertainment, and I'm really enjoying it. It has a vibe of the X Files and Millennium, and it has just reached a scene with Gillian Anderson appears, so that similarity is deepened for me. It gives me a chuckle every now and again with Hannibal cooking something, or serving up dinner, as I always wonder if the meat was talking or screaming not too long before.

The impact of this series does rely on at least passing knowledge of the earlier movies, as you wouldn't necessarily think that the charming psychiatrist is a serial killer if you didn't know. I never thought of Will Graham's character as being a somewhat neurotic 'seer', but there we are. Looking forward to more! Such a shame that Hannibal was cancelled due to poor rating after only three seasons.

that's on my binge list! if you like it, i probably will too. lately we've been binging breaking bad, mostly because we are bill burr fans, but it's surprisingly funny,  and very good.
don't EVEN...EVER!

I'm up to the third episode of season three, and I'm beginning to see why it was cancelled. Not that it isn't good - this is one of the most beautifully shot and edited shows I've seen in ages. But the style and stories of this series get further and further removed from Silence Of The Lambs or Red Dragon/Manhunter. In an interview, the cinematographer said that people were being shown an art movie each week, and I fully agree. This has more visual stylistic similarities to a recent Wong Kar Wai movie than it does with Silence Of The Lambs.

It's a great series, and I'm really enjoying how the stories are playing out. But this isn't really for Silence fans.

The guy playing Dr Lecter looks like me with a bad hangover (and I don't drink alcohol).

I've just started this on Sunday.  I'm on...I wanna say Episode 9 of season 1.  Hannibal's patient, Franklyn, suspected a friend of his as being a killer, and he was correct, and said friend tried to attack Lecter.
