It's kind of creepy how the dreaded prequels and even worse sequel trilogy were hinted at as far back as 1983 in that article. That is how doom and despair begins though; in the wind.
First rule is, 'The laws of Germany'
Second rule is, 'Be nice to mommy'
Third rule is, 'Don't talk to commies'
Fourth rule is, 'Eat kosher salamis'

About going overboard on the juvenile, FWIW, many of the influences of the franchise include Westerns, pirate, war, and samurai movies, and sci-fi serials.
