Ash Taking On Freddy And Jason?

Bruce Campbell, who played Ash in the Evil Dead horror films, told SCI FI Wire that there is "some validity" to the rampant rumors about the possibility of a movie that would pit his character against Freddy of A Nightmare on Elm Street and Jason from the Friday the 13th franchise. But Campbell added that nothing is imminent. "As I've been explaining to people, this wouldn't be a movie where you could just make a phone call and go, 'Let's do it,' and then it all happens," Campbell said in an interview. "You've got three franchises."

Campbell added, "[That] means you have 17 lawyers, each going, 'Yeah, look at my franchise. Yeah, look at my franchise.' So you have to get past that. Then you have to get past the question of 'how will the characters be treated?' What would you do with Ash? There's no way I'd be in it if I lost. No way. The good guy has to win, especially in that movie. You couldn't kill two whole franchises, but we could sure maim them."

"Freddy VS Jason" did well in the theaters because the thought of Freddy fighting Jason was both original and interesting, and everyone wanted to know who would walk away victorious. But when the director copped out and made the fight end in a weak tie most everyone walked away from the theaters disappointed. If a "Freddy VS Jason 2" comes out (or, as this thread speculates, if a "Freddy VS Jason VS Ash" movie comes out), only the people who enjoy BAD movies will bother to go see it. It won't do nearly as well as the first movie.
...Freddy and Jason may very well be on their way to "straight to video" features.

If you listen/watch the Freddy vs. Jason commentary, Robert England (Freddy) says he hates the idea of Bruce Campbell in FvJ2. He says its too "campy," I guess Freddy hasn't watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 2-6. J/k

He also believes the story will be about Ash coming forth and trying to get rid of all forces of evil in the world, including Freddy and Jason. "Like in ghostbusters," he says.

If Anne Rice could be talked into Tom Cruise being Lestat,  Robert "not doing a damn thing in the interim" Englund can be talked into a possible Ash involvement.  It's not like it will make Bob any poorer.

You have to give Ash a bizarre backdrop to work in.  Maybe they could be transported back to Japan before it was opened to the West.  Or else something like him being a professor at a college.  At least that would put him in the right location to run into the other two.

I like Ash, and the Evil Dead, dont get me wrong Ash is cool

BUT

Why bring him into this. When it comes down to it, Ash is a human. Plus Jason Vs. Freddy did not even nearly have enough of the fighting or Freddy (great Jason back story though... YES)  So I don't think he could fit in a third

BUT

if there must be a third, make it Mike Myers. Look Freddy wants revenge on Jason, and what better way than to send another unstoppable psycho at him. I think Mike Myers fits in much better with the mix. I seem to remember some talk of this happening, where did it go.

You've got a good point here Michael would make for sense to fight against Jason and Freddy (sense?) But I think if Ash fought them then it feels  more guarrantied that Freddy and Jason would lose. That's just what I think. Plus Ash kicks ass.
