What was the last thing that really scared you?

...Wow, here's hoping you can move to a better part of town. By some measures Louisville is one of the most dangerous cities in the country, but the violence is all confined to certain neighborhoods. I can't remember ever hearing a gunshot in my life (other than at a shooting range or something like that).

I lived in Asbury Park, NJ when it was a sewer and gunshots could be heard too often.  Real gunshots sound nothing like in the movies.

I saw a few scary Facebook post from a guy I used to hang around with back in the 1980s and early 90s. I haven't seen him in years, but we stayed in touch occasionally through Facebook. All of a sudden he was posting things about having his foot amputated (related to diabetes, I think) and needing to pause his cancer treatments until he recovered from the surgery (I didn't even know he had cancer). Next thing I knew he posted that they moved him to hospice. There has been no news since then and his FB account is just sitting there with no posts. The guy is a few years younger than me. Scary.

 My Ma lived in Mastic-Shirley L.I. on 9/11. I heard about it at work here in Lawton. I left work and called her-she said "Do you see what the f**k is going on here?" I said," yes,Ma. That's why I called. Is everybody alright?" She says- "yeah! But there's smoke like a friggin' bomb went off in the city!"
She could see it while standing outside.
