As take from Anchor Bay's website:

Release date: November 20th

Standard version (looks to be priced at $12.00 bucks)

You have never seen anything like BAD TASTE! This legendary low-budget debut from producer/director/co-writer/star Peter Jackson is packed with all the outrageous action, senseless violence and sick humor that has made it one of the most radical cult classics of all time. Restored and newly transferred from original vault materials, BAD TASTE is now presented completely uncut, uncensored and unrated in all its gory glory!

Includes a 4-Page Collector's Booklet

Limted Edition: (I pre-ordered it from CDNOW for $21.00 bucks)

This Limited Edition 2-Disc Set (50,000 only) contains a special bonus presentation of the documentary "Good Taste Made Bad Taste", as well as a 16 page booklet with cast interviews and a special lenticular tri-fold cover!

The Bard

They probably plan to send the Regular edition DVD to Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and other mass merchant "people friendly" stores.  The Mart stores regulary censor everything and probably wouldn't put the Box with the middle finger on their shelfs.

When BAD TASTE recieved video release in 1989 through Magnum Entertainment, their were also two picture versions with Lord Crumb holding the middle finger and the other with Crumb holding the two fingers! As what The Bard said earlier, the two fingered ones were placed in more family oriented video rental stores (makes you wonder what family in their right mind would rent a film called BAD TASTE if you think about it, unless they are REALLY warped) while the middle fingered cover was used in more adult oriented video rentals. So the two different cover story for BAD TASTE is nothing new.

As for the special features, BAD TASTE is presented in 1.66:1, a thearical trailer, Peter Jackson bio, and "Good Taste Meets Bad Taste" 25 minute documentary. Jesus, we could have had a Peter Jackson commentary track too Anchor Bay? But, I guess this will do for now. After this DVD debut Anchor Bay sould now start shelling out the bucks for the 104 minute uncut version of BRAINDEAD as well. We hope for the best.

Of course another possible explanation is the fact that the two-fingered version is more offensive to UK and NZ types than the one finger version.  Maybe Anchor Bay wanted to offend as many people as possible...
