Mofo Rising

I just recently returned from spending three weeks in Ecuador, most of those in rainforest settings.

Of course, during the whole time I was trying to think of movies that really showcased South American jungles.

Only, because I'm a pretentious film jerk, the only film I could really think of was AGUIRRE: THE WRATH OF GOD.  I know there is also FITZCARRALDO, but what I really want to know about is zombies.

Zombies, by crikey!

Of course, zombies aren't that important.  What I want to know about are films that really do a good job of showcasing the South American rainforest environment.  No matter the topic, no matter the quality, tell me about some movies that take place in South America and do a good job of communicating the fact.

(Note:  While AMAZON WOMEN ON THE MOON is funny, it doesn't really count.)

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

There's the annoying Sean Connery/Lorraine Braco flick "Medicine Man".

"The Rundown" is set in Brazil, but was mostly shot in Hawaii.

Some of the Mike Henry era Tarzan flicks have him journeying to South America.

"The Emerald Forest"
"The Mission"
"Sorcerer"

MonsterX

Bride of The Gorilla, if memory serves me correctly.  Lon Chaney was a hoot in that one.

"There was no monster. . . "

That's the native habitatat of The Creature From the Black Lagoon... You also find Anacondas there and, of course, army ants in The Naked Jungle.

SORCERER is a great movie about a truck ride through the jungle.

PREDATOR, of course.
