9/11: 23 years later

I was at work. At 10:00 break and I was walking threw the office to go outside to the smoking placebo. There was a small TV on the counter with the attacks on it- I took the rest of the day off and went home to call my Ma, who lived on Long Island (and frequented the city often) to see if she was OK.
She was. She could see the smoke billowing on the horizon from the Towers from her house.

9/11 2001 was the second worst day in my life.

My students always want to hear about that day, and I still have a hard time talking about it without crying.
But I tell them anyway.

I haven't celebrated my birthday since 2000 and never will again. It doesn't feel right, me celebrating when so many innocents died on that very day because of a bunch of Muslim a***oles 🥺

Thanks: it just doesn't seem right to celebrate my birthday on such a painful day so I don't. 🥺☹️
