Ok. Starting a list. I like FX films, even if the FX are bad, so expect a lot of those.

In No Order:

1) Message From Space
2) Planet of Dinosaurs
3) The Day Time Ended
4) Krull
5) Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone
6) The Magic Sword
7) Attack of the Puppet People
9) Dinosaurus!

I'll try to add to this later.

like in an unintentionally hilarious / campy / inept way?

cause I can't see that aspect of it (wish I did though!)

(I interpreted 'Top... ' to mean movies you actually enjoy.)

Yeah- I think this is a classic and in NO way a Bad film.
As far a s good books not being followed to the tee in films- it's a different medium, and sometimes needs to make changes. To make the SHINING into a plot exactly like the book would be a hopless task. Passages in the book- as when Jack is in the basement reading newsclippings describing the sordid history of the Overlook Hotel would meander for too long time and take away from the main plot. Films need to be tighter. Can you imaginge Mary Shelly's FRANKENSTEIN sticking to the book word by word? Egad!
The cinematic experiance is a whole different animal. Why one can't apperciate both the book and the film on it's own terms is beyond me.

seems like Trev's deleted his list... hope not cause it caused an interrogation! we're all entitled to our lists

for e.g. I honestly think THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION is one of the most unintentionally camp movies I've ever seen... it could've potentially made my list! there's parts of it that just drag though

RCMerchant

^ I wasn't degrading his list or criticizing it, just expressing my thoughts on why some books won't translate to screen in the way the director wants in order to make the film he wants. When a number of painters does a portrait of the same person, the styles certainly wont be the same. If you don't like said translation- more power to ya!

I remember waiting ages to see that film.  It was in a local video rental shop and was hired out a lot so it took a while.  I love the dinosaur effects - great stop motion.  Completely at odds with the rest of the film though.

To Trevor - please put up your list again.

I's a rather standard sub-par independent 70's sci-fi film. Slow, about people wandering through the desert, with a bunch of speeches the writer or director thought were philosophical. But the dinosaurs are awesome, & they make it worth it.

And, yes, Trevor, please post your list again. Steven King thought  Kubrick's version of "The Shining" was bad too. A novel with a ghost story should result in a movie with a ghost story.

Some on here that I'm very curious about.
What is DEATH DIMENSION (1978)?

I don't think anyone has mentioned PROJECT: NIGHTMARE (1987). I like it, but by most standards it is a Bad Movie of epic (though bad) proportions.

RCMerchant

^ DEATH DIMENSION is an Al Adamson movie with Jim Kelly.

a low budget kung-fu meets not kung-fu..... thing?! kind of a mishmash of various grindhouse exploitation tropes. I love it

interesting cause it stars both ex-Bond George Lazenby and ex-Oddjob Harold Sakata (who is the worst actor *ever*)
