68. BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR (2013)

Definitely not worth the slog. Even people specifically looking for a lesbian romance would probably prefer they get through it in 90 minutes.

87 hours?... well that's just showing off

imdb review says it could do without the last 15 minutes which dragged

Dr. Whom

"Once you get past a certain threshold, everyone's problems are the same: fortifying your island and hiding the heat signature from your fusion reactor."

Quote from: zombie no.one on September 29, 2025, 01:35:41 AMI've always thought any film over 2 hours long really need to justify being so. like really really. time is a commodity.

btw PARSIFAL should've been #66, as EMPIRE was reposted.

next is #67

EDIT - ah no it shouldn't... I see Trevor  edited and corrected his previous posts numbers....

next is #68

I'm struggling to find any more!
I generally feel 1hr 45min to 2hr 15mins is a decent time for a good movie. 1hr 45min for a comedy/horror and 2hr 15min for a decent drama or action fluck.

Some exceptions can be made, of course. The Dark Knight was 2 and a half hour long. And I'm a fan of the MCU overall and Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame really needed to be 2.5-3 hours long. They had a great villain in Thanos, and they brought together so many characters from 20 or so different films, many of whom never met until the events in these two films.

Hmm, looks like THE WOLF OF WALL STREET is exactly 3 hours long, so not OVER 3 hours.

I forget, did we say extended cuts are allowed?

Here's one we seem to have forgotten:

74. GRINDHOUSE (3 hours, 11 min.)

I believe the Extended Version of Dances with Wolves is on the list, so extended cuts should count. Gonna need it cause can't think of many more that aren't rare or something.

Grindhouse. Good call. Forgot about that.

recap of rules:

Quote from: zombie no.one on September 22, 2025, 06:26:07 AMyep... any movie whose official runtime is 180 minutes or longer.

so WOLF OF WALL STREET counts (as did the exactly 180 min INLAND EMPIRE).

not to go too deep but if a film officially hits the 180 minute mark then I guess the law of time itself states it must technically be 'over' that, cause precisely dead-on 180 minutes is not achievable (?)

75. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

Quotefor the sake of argument let's say officially released directors' cuts qualify.

so yes , they count.

Theatrical release was 187 minutes. Director cut was around 200 minutes, give or take.
