Her memorial service was held yesterday.

I didn't attend although I was asked if I would like to attend but I informed the family that since I had heard the news of her passing, I had been very depressed, had considered suicide and cried a lot of the time.

She was someone I had known for 36 years, more than half my adult life.

They told me that she had actually been very close to end-of-life care and that she was and had been thus very, very ill.

I was thankful that she had passed peacefully and that there was no more pain for my big sister: there shouldn't have been any pain at all for such a special person.

They sent their love to me.

She was a very special person indeed. Tough, uncompromising, kind, beautiful, very funny, special and someone who would have your back especially if she felt you were being threatened.

I have spent the last two days remembering and reminiscing with people about her. Everyone who knew her - and it's a lot of people - is hurting.

She was my friend, my mentor, my champion and my big sister.

Then it sounds like she left the world a better place than it was when she found it.

I went back to the archives this morning and was stunned to see that the old rose bush near her office was blooming for the first time in years, beautiful pink roses.

It still hurts that she is gone 😢😭
