Look at this and tell me it is not a step too far... and I thought LOTR were milking it:

10 discs!
That's crazy.

You'd have to REALLY be into The Matrix to buy that.
And a region 2 DVD player.

Well, if you add it all up, LOTR's special edition boxed sets are going to total 12 discs for three movies - this just totals ten.

Frankly, I love the extra LOTR stuff and have watched all the extras.  Yeah, I'm a fan of the books and I enjoyed learning more about the guy who wrote them.  I also thought it was neat to watch the creation of these movies in such detail just as someone who enjoys movies.

Personally, I found the Matrix to be just okay, I turned off part two after a half hour, and I didn't bother with the third one...  but I also know people who seem to have enjoyed the Matrix series every bit as much as I enjoyed LOTR, so I guess ten discs does not really seem excessive.

if I didn't have the movies, the video game and the animatrix already, I'd seriously consider getting this. With a matrix tattoo on my arm, it's almost a requirement for me...

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

Whilst overall, the ending was dissappointing, I did enjoy the series, especially the Animatrix [which I already own]

I'll probably buy this, provided it's not too much money, since I am pretty interested in the whole thing, although I delibrately didn't buy any of the other movies for this purpose [they were going to release something like this eventually]

I'd like to know what it has in it.  If it's just got the movies, a one or two disk supplement and the soundtracks that would really annoy me.

Since there's 4 possible film dvds [including Animatrix] and there is a special features disk [i think] with the other movies, that pretty much adds up to ten already anyways, so I'm not sure whether this will offer anything too new.

here's hoping for an alternate ending version that wasn't crap.
