Well, caught a few more films this week and here they are:

SHAUN OF THE DEAD (2004) - One of the better films this year. We had a lot of fun watching this British zombie comedy. Good old fashion gore and zombies.

THE SKULLS ( 2000) - Good film about the Secret Society at Yale. The movie is really well done and interesting. Will be renting the second and third SKULL films soon.

THE SINFUL NUNS OF SAINT VALENTINE (1973) - Considered a nunsploitation film and made in Italy. Not bad as a convent  is exposed by religious authorities for hiding a heretic and other unspeakable things. They are sealed into their convents by the church so that the public doesn't find out about the things that went on there.

DAY OF THE JACKAL (1973) - Assassin is hired to kill DeGaul in France. I liked the movie except the end which was kinda anti-climatic. The film is a French/England production. Not bad.

MINISTRY OF FEAR ( 1944) - World War II spy film directed by Fritz Lang and starring a younger Ray Milland. The scene with the blind man on the train going through the cake was the best part. Milland went on to star in other great films like MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES and FROGS.

THE SNAKE STRIKES BACK ( 1981) - Kung Fu film made in Hong Kong starring Elton Chong. There is a master with a protruding stomach and is eventually beat by some thugs. The main character is a unwilling hero who takes on the bad guys after some special training to develope a special muscle. During the final battle his stomach muscle starts to grow and he uses it to defeat his enemies.

The Burgomaster

"Milland went on to star in other great films like MAN WITH THE X-RAY EYES and FROGS."

Not to mention his Oscar-winning performance in THE LOST WEEKEND, and his . . .uh . . . performance in THE THING WITH TWO HEADS.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Oh yea, I forgot THE THING WITH TWO HEADS. He was at one time a star actor of some kind.

God, how I hated "The Skulls". After enduring most, if not all, of his films, I'm starting to think that Rob Cohen is a complete, hopeless, hack. The acting was terrible, the script a mess, and, worse of all, the movie was sooooo boring. The ending scene (the duel) could have been fun if taken less seriously, but it wasn't.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Ray Milland also directed a few films including the decent Cold War drama "Panic in the Year Zero".

I liked the ending of "Day of the Jackal" because it's similar to the book, which ending pretty abruptly once the threat ends. Plus in the film it made sense to me that the French officials wouldn't want to publicize just how close the Jackal had come to killing de Gaulle, considering the political turmoil France was in during the time the story was set in.

I enjoyed THE DAY OF THE JACKAL and the ending interesting with the parade and all. When they get that into a assassins life you tend to want to see it end differently.

Really liked THE SKULLS as I'm interested in the subject matter. Even if the movie is just a story.
