Bought these three cheapies for $1 DVD's each packaged in cardboard slips from dollar stores. These are really poor films.

MOONSTALKER (1988) -  Family camping alone run into old man with a camper. Around the campfire he tells the family about his son. Little do they know he keeps his son chained up in the trailer with a hood over his head.  After the fireside talk the family goes back to their trailer and Pops lets his son Bernie out to get him that nice family trailer with the microwave. Chops them up with an axe and chase the girl down with a truck. Then he finds a camp of people. There are some ultra ultra cheap gore scenes and really stupid acting and characters. Not my type of film.

THE GREAT ADVENTURE (1975) - This Italian/Spain co-production stars Jack Palance and Joan Collins in a story about the Yukon wilderness. It's really a lame story, but it was neat to see Palance and Collins in a film together. It may be a tad better than Palance's other Italian Western efforts BEYOND THE LAW, DESPERADOS, or GOD'S GUN. Well, maybe not GOD'S GUN.

LITTLE MOON & JUDD MCGRAW (1978) - Phew, this was actually a very wild disjointed film that was just awful. James Caan and Stephanie Powers star in this weird Western tale about a guy who runs into an Mexican/Indian woman trying to destroy a corrupt town. I mean this town is bad, but the direction is just as bad making the film totally useless. There is a rape in the middle of the street and nobody does anything about it except watch and drink alcohol. In the end Caan and Powers destroy the town using three catapults. No kidding ! All the elements are put to waste as the director, editor, music, and camera work is really awful.

I found myself using the fast forward on all three films to interesting looking scenes, because each film was very tedious. If you see these $1DVD's don't waste your $1.

Maybe that's why they were only and dollar.  It's worth checking this stuff out though,  because occasionally you find some real treasures. Better luck next time!

I found the VHS versions of Star Trek IV and Star Trek: Generations the other day for $1.99 each over a Big Lots. I don't buy a lot of movies, but these were too good to pass up considering my fondness for  all things Trek (except  Voyager, bluh!).

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

LITTLE MOON & JUDD MCGRAW starts out promising with a wagon entering a fort with a mountainous background and some weird 70's music. In the fortress they are whipping 3 dudes who are hanging upside down and all naked. Caan has a flashback to when his wife and son are shot by some bad guys, then he escapes out the front entrance to the fort knocking some guards over. This film really had potential.

MOONSTALKER is a canidate for one of Andrews reviews.

Wal-Mart's been havi ng a lot of those of late, lot of 50s movies/tv shows and such.  Been meaning to check them out sometime.  I think they had some old Bela Lugosi classics (or at least, films with BL in it) and whatnot.

Hehe... course, those were probably cheap because they figured everyone would want the NEW DVD release of those movies with all the extra bells and whistles.  I'm told it won't be long they stop releasing films on VHS.

Me thjough, I have a DVD player and yes, when I can afford it, I upgrade my classic tapes, but I won't get rid of my VCR anytime soon, need something to record my tv shows on (guess I'm one of the few out there who can actually PROGRAM my VCR... that or maybe everyone else is rich enough ot wait for all there favorite shows to come out on DVD)

(sighs)

The joys of being poor.  :)

The best one is "Bela Legosi  Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla"

Menard

I will not be getting rid of my VCR because I have too many tapes that have yet to make it to DVD. I can program my VCR fine, but there is not much on the tube that I like. My idea of TV show DVDs are the dollar DVDs. If I were to actually buy one of these TV show DVD sets, I would buy it used or buy the Gilligan's Island just to harass a friend of mine who does not like the show (: --Bob

Seen most of Bela Legosi films, but if I could find Bela Legosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla for $1 that would be great. I have yet to see this film.

Thanks, maybe in a couple days I'll head out that way. It sounds like a winner.
