I read today that the Man-Thing (a Marvel Comic) movie will be going direct to tv on SciFi channel in April and will be released on DVD in  June.

I don't think  I ever read the comic, but he is basically Marvel's Swamp Thing only he can't  talk and is empathically drawn to fear. Someone here may know more about the comic.

Since this was being made for a possible theatrical release it may have some above average FX compared to the other movies that SciFi usually shows.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

I was wondering what happened to this movie. I thought it got canned. As for the comic I got 1 or 2 issues laying around and what makes him different from swamp thing is that he a guardian of other dimensions I think. Really never got into him.

You can always go to a shop and pick up a "giant sized man-thing" pretty cheap.

I recall reading a few of these comics back in the 70's and though I was a little young to understand everything completely, I recall them being very "dark". You felt sorry for the Man-Thing as he could only understand emotion and he seemed very tortured. I got a book and record set of this for Christmas one year from my older sister and it was really quite disturbing. The story involved a group of people, a clown who was depressed, and of course the Man-Thing. Anyway, the clown wound up not wanting to live and the Man-Thing picked up on this and was upset by it. The clown popped himself in the head and the Man-Thing found his body and recalled from his past life that he should bury the poor clown. The group of people saw this going on and of course thought that the Man-Thing did it and a fight ensued until one of them pointed out that the clown shot himself. There was more to it but it was really quite a disturbing "childrens" record/story book set for an 8 year old. Ya know, I may still have this somewhere now that I think of it.
Anyway, here is a link to some more information:

It is safe to say the movie is bad. It was supposed to be released in theaters a couple of months ago, but it never happened. And the few out there following the production of the film, wondered why.

Why, you ask? Because the movie sucks. I read a review from it, it seems to be one of those films that goes the extra step to making itself so boring that you want to consider suicide. The monster or whatever Man-Thing is, shows up in the last ten minutes of the movie. For the first 80 minutes, it is two actors engaging in dialogue while speaking through their awful fake Australian accents.

Honestly, every Scifi movie really stinks. Why do those guys even bother?

On Saturday I saw an ad for Man-Thing on Sci-Fi. Supposed to air this Saturday at 9pm I think. I can honestly say that if the ads are any indication at all, this movie is going to be rotten to the core. Usually ads are designed to generate interest in something but this one didn't do it for me. Perhaps I'm wrong but with all that's been said about this, it's not likely.

This was supposed to be a theatrical release, but I guess someone actually watched the finished product.  I read a review over AICN and it sounds really bad.
