Just out of curiosity has anybody here ever been canned for being ill? I am going on my second day  now. If any one is wondering how can I be so sick if I am online.
I am so addicted to Badmovies.Org I need it everyday...geez that the delirium talking.

raj

Nope.  Why would you worry about it if you're only on your second day.  It isn't that easy to fire someone just for being sick, especially if it's just a couple of days.

Eirik

Not sick, per se, but I got fired from a summer house-painting job because I blew out my knee and couldn't stand for lengthy periods.  I tried to gut it out but it really slowed me down.  Can't blame my boss really.

Being online is a good way to pass the time while you are sick. When I was ill about two weeks ago, I got online to have something to do, but I still felt miserable.

You can be online or work while sick as long as you're near the bathroom. : ) Remember the great thing about it is that the choice is yours.

Menard

If I am ill, as long as I can walk, I would prefer to work, it gives me something to do. That is of course providing that I am not going to be around a lot of people as to not give somebody else the same thing I have.

I have to start work later on this year... I want to work at Blockbuster because I know where everything in the store is and I know which videos work and which ones don't. (No, I'm serious.)

Yes. My freshman year in college, I ended up being hospitalized for a week. This and the illness leading up to it caused me to miss quite a bit of work. After the okey dokey from the doctors, I went back to work.  Sometime, a few weeks iirc, later, I got a flu type bug and had to call in sick, with PLENTY of notice for the manager to find a replacement.  He fired me over the phone.

Got another job within a week, and now I own my own company.  So, hang in there....

Yes but a slightly different scenario than ulthar's. I'd been missing alot of work sometimes for legitamate reasons but usually because I didnt feel like showing up. I'd call in and say I was sick, or my car wouldnt start, or my house was on fire, great grandma died, CHUD infestation, whatever. I finally really got sick and by then my boss had had it with pulling up my slack, so when I got back he canned me. I've since got my act together. I just had some growing up to do at the time.

I worked with a guy about 10 years ago who had about 37 grandmothers. 2 or 3 times a year one of them would die. Could never really figure that one out.

He musnt know the system. A proper slacker mixes up excuses. It goes illness, emergency, injury, death in family. You can mix up the category order but never use the same one twice in a row, and most certainly not the same excuse twice whithin the same category.

lets see, there can be the egg donor's mom, the sperm donor's mom, the baby oven's mom, and then the adoptive mom's mom, stepgrandmoms. . .  If the kid bounces around enough you could get to 37.  Bit of a stretch though.  I'd stick with 7 or 8.
