i was wondering if anyone knew any 'easy' ways to film something backwards. My friend told me something like ' Firewire ' might do the trick , but  i cant afffffffford it.

If you're doing video, I can't help -- but if you're using film, like in Top Secret, the part with Peter Cushing in the library, you just film it forward, develop the film, and flip it over in the cut/splice.  The forward scene will then run backwards as part of your movie.

What kind of equipment are you using?

i have a camcorder, but i wanted to do it on this 16 mm cam i have from the 70's.

Vermin Boy

If you can find any double-perforated film (with sprocket holes on both sides), turn your camera upside down while filming, then flip the film while editing. :)

Either of the suggestions that Peter or Vermin Boy gave would work.

They used the upside-down technique in THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE for the scene where Hitchhiker is hit by the semi. They shot it from the cab and had the semi moving backwards. Edwin Neal starts the scene standing up against the front of the truck as the truck moves away from him. When run backwards, it makes it appear as though the truck hits him.

Is the camera you have a Bolex?

If any of you have seen the video for ' Anold Layne' by pink floyd, theres good example of what im talking about at the end of it. They make it look like hes flying, catching a hat going really fast, and catching a cane.

Menard: I cant seem to find it at the moment , ill have to get back to you on that.
