I, for some odd reason, just remembered a film that I saw as a child.  Unfortunatly, I can't remember the name of it, only a few details.  My family rented it in apx '86-'89 and it was about two robots.  I believe there was a male and female robot, both human looking.  Then, there was either one or two robots chasing after them.  My memory is very strong about one of the chasing bots having a blue "police" light on the top of it.

I know the info is quite sparse, but I'd love if someone actually knew the name of the film.

It's "Heartbeeps" starring Bernadette Peters and the late Andy Kaufman...chris

Chris,

I just did a search and you are right!  This has been bothering me for years now.  I'll have to track down a copy on Ebay.  Thanks!

Andy,

I have no doubt.  I just put in a 1.99 bid on a VHS copy.  Atleast I won't be wasting too much cash on it.
