Saturday Night: Narcosys - This was one confused movie.  Didn't have much of a plot, just a few story elements and characters sorta moving around for awhile before the credits rolled.  Sometime in the near future, drug use has been common place or legal and a company manufacturing the drugs has started poisoning the drug supply. There are two intertwining story lines; one involving a gang of four violent young criminals, one of which is really an undercover cop of some sort, the other story is about a guy who was infected by a virus by the authoritie.  Both sets of characters spend a lot of time wandering around and doing not much.  The movie is long on music and dance scenes and wasted time and short on talent, character development, or plot.  Looks like itwas shot on video or digital video.  Very bad movie and not in an entertaining way.  Looks like it was made by very young filmakers who thought they were being insightful but really didn't have much to say, or at least no how to say it.  Doesn't really have an ending so much as they just stopped filming when most of the charaters we dead

Sunday Night: Epoch  - All I really need to say is "UFO Production with William Zabka in a bit role" and most people should know what to except.  The basic setup is actually pretty interesting; four billion years ago, something huge fell from space and crashed into the sea.  Now a giant rock...something or other (called the 'tourus' through most of the movie) has emerged from the ground in Bhutan and is suspended a few feet in the air.  People in the area are being healed and brought back to life.  The Bhutan government has invited the US to investigate; the nearby Chinese are also sending in some troops.  So the US needs to find out what this thing is, what it does, what it will do, and do it before the international situation gets out of control.  This one actually had some interesting ideas, but then the characters would open their mouths and ruin it.  Seriously; the main character was a dangerous jerk and if he hadn't been annointed 'hero' the Army captain probably would've shot him and no one would've complained  Most of the interaction between the Chinese and US is complete unnecessary and, well..stupid.  You just sorta have to say, ok, they are doing this to set up tension because nobody would ever give these people weapons or diplomatic responsibilites.  The movie ends up being competently made and acted, interesting ideas, wrapped in a completely idiotic set of character interactions

Epoch - This actually has Ryan O'Neal in it along with David Keith (not to be confused with Keith David).

It has a sequel Epoch: Evolution only this time with Billy Dee Williams and David Keith.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

You know, for some time I've been noticing Epoch on the shelf, but I could never decide whether I really wanted to watch it. Now, I still don't know :)

SPOILERS

Yeah, Epoch was a waste because of the characters.  David Keith makes a career out of pointing out how stupid everyone else is, but actually he's wrong about everything and everyone else is right - the thing really did want to wipe us all out.  Then Niznik's character gets mad at him for making a bad joke and won't let him do his job.  So they nuke the thing and it goes away.  Maybe because they nuked it?  Naw, must be because Keith and Niznik started making out.  Yeah, that's it.  Only advanced lifeforms, deserving of survival, get involved in that way.  Oh wait, just about all animals have sex with each other.  So maybe that wasn't such a logical conclusion?

I had completely forgotten about the totally rediulous ending premise of the tourus deciding not to wipe out life on earth and start over because they had 'become close'
