BUFFALO BILL AND THE INDIANS (1976) - Good film about Buffalo Bill, Sitting Bull, and the Wild West Show. Not sure how accurate it was, but the film was worth a good viewing.  The film stars Paul Newman as Buffalo Bill Cody. Watched the trailer and thought that I wouldn't like it, but it really surprised me. I went to the Buffalo Bill Museum last summer in Cody, Wyoming and the museum dosn't portray Bullalo Bill like they do in the film and the museum has some very nice tributes to the Native American. It's a world class museum. Both the film and museum are a must for those interested in the subject.

THE RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN (1966) - Good little sequel to THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN (1960). The acting isn't as good and  the characters are a bit artificial. Not to mention that to of the surviving characters are played by different actors. The only one returning was Yul Brenner. The film was shot in Spain and really does a good job of creating late 1800's Mexico.

THE WILD WOMEN OF WONGO (1958 ) - This rediculous film was shot at Coral Castle in Florida. It's about two tribes that are "topsy-turvey" as the film tells us at the beginning. One tribe from Wongo has ugly men and beautiful women and the Goona tribe has handsome men and ugly women. Well they kinda get together due to an ape-man invasion (only two ape-men). I won't give away the ending to this test of endurance at 71 minutes in length.

WILD MEN OF WRESTLING COLLECTION - Picked-up this Diamond Entertainment DVD a couple months ago and finally finished it this week. It's Championship Wrestling from Florida. Somehow Diamond is now distributing the old 80's matches from Florida hosted by Mike Graham and wrestling friends. I bought FLORIDA CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING DVD last year which is the original source of the Mike Grahams archives. Anyway alot of the same stars on this one only in different matches. One of my favorite matches on the DVD is Manny Fernandez vs The Magnificient Muraco in a bloody title match.

I remember watching the second "magnificent Seven" film and thinking it looked cheap. I mean, not the concept, but the film instead. That they decided to shoot in my country sort of explains that. There were making a lot of spaghetty westerns back then in Almeria, so I guess the look got "contaminated" somehow.

There's even a lesser second sequel, "Guns of the magnificent seven", in which Lee van Cleef reprises Yul Bryner's character. Pretty bad.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN uses Elmer Berstiens music from the original, but they don't match it up with the images as good as the original. A few of the scenes don't make sense. Like when 6 of the 7 attack the bad guys before they get to the village from a nearby hill. The bad guys are in a better defensive position behind a wall and the magnificient ones manage to survive. Yul Brenner looked like he was preparing for WEST WORLD and wasn't that good in this one, but Warren Oates kinda stole the show from him. I'm a big fan of Spaghetti Westerns and liked the set and the extras used in RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN.

Neville did you ever visit the village or other locations of the Leone films?

Menard

I actually enjoyed the TV series THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN. Did you ever watch it?

Scott

Always wanted to see the TV series THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN, LONSOME DOVE, DEADWOOD, and a few more made for TV Westerns including all the old 60's Westerns episodes that I haven't seen either.

Right know I'm focused on Movies and I've missed alot of recent TV series doing it including a lot of those on Sci-Fi channel shows like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA.

I've always thought TWILIGHT ZONE, COMBAT, and STAR TREK covered a lot of territory as far as film ideas are concerned for each genre an they did a good job with those series. Better than most films. The newer Sci-Fi is perhaps more detailed than the original Star Trek, but not always as entertaining.

Missed a lot of good Biographies on History Channel and A&E and some Reality TV programs, but my movie marathon must go on till I cover the film world sufficiently. : )

There are a lot of Television programs that I've missed over the past years, but I've also caught a lot of good ones. Believe it or not I didn't watch any TV or Movies between the years 1985-1989.

Now there's dedication.....or obsession (:

As I've said before, you know you are in trouble when you start speaking in lines from films.

Is it safe? (:

Scott

Well, we all have to be a little obsessive in order to be dedicated.

Excellence is a habit. : )

No, never. Those films were mostly shot in Almeria, which is down, down south, and I live on the north of the country, about 100 miles from Barcelona. However, I recently learnt from a newspaper article that in the 60s they even shot westerns in Fraga, which is like 100 Km. from my hometown. I can't remember the title of the 2-3 movies thaty were filmed there (probably some obscure titles), but one of them even featured the Fraga church on the poster.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

The sequels are hard to keep straight, but it is actually "Magnificentt Seven Ride" that starred Lee Van Cleef. The sequel "Guns of the Magnificent Seven Ride" starred George Kennedy.

The Burgomaster

I didn't really like RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.  However, GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN RIDE, although vastly inferior to the original, are decent, watchable westerns.

"Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me the hell alone."

Scott

Perfectly stated Burgomaster. Just finished GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN RIDE this weekend and they are much better than THE RETURN OF THE MAGNIFICIENT SEVEN. I'm post a little more later.
